May is Melanoma Awareness Month…Do You Know the ABCDE’s of Melanoma

Please be aware of the ABCDE’s of Melanoma:

A=Asymmetry-Is one half different than the other half

B=Border-Is the border poorly defined or irregular

C=Color-Is the color varied from one area to another, shades of tan, brown and black but also sometimes white, red or blue

D=Diameter-Melanomas are usually greater than 6mm when diagnosed but can be smaller

E=Evolving-Is the mole/skin lesion different looking than the rest or is it changing in size, shape or color

Have fun in the sun but always protect yourself!
