Dr. Runfola studied at the University of Notre Dame and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine. He received his general surgical training at the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency and then completed a two year fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York. He returned to Phoenix in 2000 to assume a full time position at the Phoenix V.A. Medical Center and become Assistant Director of the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency.
Dr. Runfola is board certified and will become a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in October, 2002. He is also of Fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. His professional interests include malignant diseases of the colon and rectum, esophagus, stomach, pancreatobiliary system, skin and soft tissues and breast.
